New Blog: The Importance of IntegrationA lot of the ongoing media content around the success of psychedelics in treating psychological disorders often doesn’t stress enough the importance of the therapeutic context. As such, our most recent blog piece explores the critical nature of therapy in psychedelic healing and the psychotherapeutic model used by psychedelic researchers. Check it out here.

Legal Cannabis Access Pilot Programmes in Switzerland In 2020, the Swiss parliament government passed regulations for pilot schemes where cannabis can be legally bought and imported by adults. Switzerland will join Amsterdam as one of the only European regions allowing for a fully licensed UK supply chain with the schemes in place. Details of the pilot scheme were released on the 31st March. They can be found here. The schemes will continue until 2031, and individual pilot schemes can provide cannabis to a maximum of five thousand people, who will have their health monitored throughout the scheme. By showing the health outcomes of cannabis-using participants across the schemes, Switzerland aims to collate enough evidence to highlight any concerns surrounding cannabis legalisation, which may influence other countries to revisit their drug policies.

It’s Time the National Institute of Health Joins the Psychedelic Renaissance. An article that came out on June 2nd published by MAPS founder and director Rick Doblin, psychiatrist Julie Holland and Brian Barnett explains why the National Institute of Health (NIH), should invest in psychedelic research. Funding from the NIH, the world’s largest medical research funder, would hugely increase the progress to make psychedelics medically available. Research using psychedelics as medical tools has been promising, so it’s surprising the NIH is reluctant to fund the research. With a large today’s psychedelic research funded by profit-based organisations, concern has been raised about profit-motives and the safety of psychedelic research. However, funding from the NIH could provide a safe and well-established platform for psychedelic research to grow. Read the article here.

Queen of the Psychedelic Renaissance: Amanda Fielding After 55 Years Working in PsychedelicsThis month, Forbes published an article celebrating the work of psychedelic pioneer and Countess of Wemyss and March, Amanda Fielding. Amanda has been a crucial figure in the ongoing psychedelic renaissance and is the founder and director of the Beckley Project, an NGO pioneering current psychedelic research. Read the article here. We were delighted to film and chat with Amanda in the making of our documentary, and are strong supporters of all the contributions she is making in the psychedelic space.

Contributor of the month: Michelle Baker JonesMichelle Baker-Jones is an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, offering psychedelic integration therapy to help people process their psychedelic experiences. She was one of the therapists for Imperial College London’s psilocybin for depression studies and co-facilitates a monthly psychedelic integration group which she founded with researcher Dr Rosalind Watts. Excitingly, Michelle will be taking on the role of the lead therapist in the new proof-of-concept trials for DMT as a rapid onset sustained treatment for depression developed by small pharma.
